Warnermedia wins bidding war for production deal with JJ Abrams and his company, Bad Robot
Warnermedia has come out as the winner in the bidding war for a deal with JJ Abrams and his production company, Bad Robot. It was reported that various major studios were going after the filmmaker and producer to get him locked into a deal and WB came out on top. It's being reported that the deal could be valued in the neighborhood of 500 million dollars. That...is no small piece of change. The filmmaker behind films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the 2009 Star Trek reboot had no shortage of interest. Last week, it was reported that WB and Apple were the front runners to land the deal and now, we know who won. To be honest, I never thought Apple had a chance simply due to them being so new in the film production world. Also, Abrams already has a good working relationship with WB as he is a producer on the HBO series, Westworld. I, for one, am very intrigued to see what new creative ventures Abrams and Bad Robot give us under this new deal. Also, it will be interesting to see what comes out of Warnermedia as a lot of changes were and are being made after the AT&T acquisition last year. So question...is 500 million too high of a price tag or is JJ completely worth it? Let me know! Thanks for reading!
